WACC photo competition 2011 launched

The annual Photo competition of the World Association for Christian
Communication (WACC), 2011, has been launched. The theme is Zero
tolerance for HIV and AIDS stigma and discrimination. Photographers
are invited to submit inspirational photos illustrating people and
communities working for zero tolerance of HIV and AIDS stigma and
discrimination. Winning photos will be seen around the world, so
preference will be given to photos that convey meaning without relying
on the written word. Photographers must take care to respect the wish
of any person with HIV or AIDS who does not want to be publicly

Egypt crisis: Respect freedom of expression, says WACC

As political protests continue to escalate in Egypt, the World
Association for Christian Communication (WACC) is calling on Egyptian
authorities to respect freedom of expression and allow its citizens
full access to all means of communication, particularly internet and
social media. WACC is also condemning violence against journalists

WACC Europe Seminar and Assembly: Frankfurt, Germany ­ 30 March - 2

In recent years there has been a series of changes in the media,
church, societal and economic landscape in Europe. The conference is
intended to focus on the implications of these changes for WACCâ??s
principles of communication as well as the communication tasks for
churches and Christian organizations and the coverage of religion in

Mexican children challenge their countryâ??s â??bad televisio nâ??

A 12-minute documentary, produced with equipment purchased with the
support of WACC, has won the 2010 prize for the best documentary of
the Kolibrí International Festival of Audiovisuals for Children and
Youth held in La Paz, Bolivia, 3-11 November last year. Launched in
2006 in Bolivia, Kolibrí was the first international video and film
festival in Bolivia dedicated to the topic. Read more...

Killing a woman simply because she is a woman is a tragic phenomenon,
unfathomable and beyond imagination. But this is a reality faced by
hundreds of women in Guatemala and other countries in Central America.
More than 4,500 women have been killed since the year 2000 in
Guatemala alone. The majority of the victims were between the ages of
