WACC- Middle East region supports mass movements

WACC- Middle East Executive Committee has been following the recent
developments in some countries of the Middle East and especially the
popular movements to enable change and transformation in the
prevailing socio-political situation in these countries. The committee
expresses its support for these mass movements which seek to
strengthen democracy and freedom of expression and put an end to

WACC-Caribe concerned by intimidation and threats to Haitian
journalists

WACC-Caribe wishes to express its deep concern for the threats made
to journalist and Goupe Medialternatif Coordinator Gotson Pierre when
he was a member of a panel on the presidential debate last March 9
organized by the GIAP (Group of Intervention in Public Affairs, French
acronym). We are well aware of the destruction caused by followers of
some parties in Port-au- Prince and several other cities of the
country last December 8 and 9 who among other acts, harassed

Today, a massive earthquake measuring 8.9 struck Sendai in Japan and
set off tsunami and tsunami alerts across the entire Pacific region.
Today more than ever, we see the powerful force of nature and we are
reminded once again of the need to listen and heed the calls of Mother

Faith Communities can play a key role in strengthening the right to
communicate and tackling questions of social justice and peace ,
General Secretary of the World Association for Christian Communication
(WACC) said on 12 March. Rev. Karin Achtelstetter was speaking at the
5th Commission meeting of the Interfaith Action for Peace (IFAPA) in
Mombasa, Kenya, where representatives of the main faith traditions

WACC supports communication training for human rights groups in
Colombia

Some 200 community leaders working in the area of Nariño in south
western Colombia received communication training thanks to a project
implemented by Fundación de Desarrollo y Paz (FUNDEPAZ) with support
from WACCâ??s Communication Rights programme. The training workshops
involved communication officers from human rights organisations in
Ipiales, Tumaco and Pasto. Read more...
