Written by Jeffrey Woodard March 29, 2011
An increased number of workshops aimed at more specific needs will be available for the UCC Office Support Staff Network (UCCOSSN) participants in "Go Tell It On the Mountain," its annual meeting scheduled for April 28 to May 1 at Red Jacket Mountain View Resort in North Conway, N. H. ?We'll have more workshops split between those focused on the Conference, national and local levels," says Denise Leighton, planning committee chair and administrative assistant for the annual meeting?s sponsor, First Church of Christ, Congregational UCC in Conway. Two of the workshops ?? ?Social Media? and ?Dealing with Difficult People? ?? are offered to everyone attending the event. The other four workshops are ?Recognizing the Invisible Barriers,? ?Newsletters,? ?Conference Staff,? ?Parish Life and Leadership.? The keynote will be delivered April 29 by Rebecca Rule, author of "Headin? for the Rhubarb: A New Hampshire Dictionary (well, kinda).? ?We're hoping Rebecca can give us a few laughs along with the history of New Hampshire and storytelling about church workers,? says Leighton. Free time April 30 will enable the expected 100 attendees to take advantage of hiking trails and explore the scenic Mount Washington Valley. In addition, a murder mystery dinner will be available that evening for an additional cost of $30. Registration fee for the meeting ?? supported by the New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine Conferences, and the Congregational UCC of Laconia (N.H.) ?? is $125. Hotel rates begin at $139 per night. To register for the annual meeting, or for more information on the UCCOSSN, log on to www.uccossn.org. For further details, contact Leighton at 603-356-2324 or firstchurchnc@firstbridge.net.
