"When I was in Iraq and provided ministry to wounded Marines, they would
often say, 'Chaplain, if I had to do it all over again, I would - despite
the hardships, injuries and risks." - The Rev. Dale C. White, a Navy captain
deployed to Iraq for 13 months.

United Methodist pastors called to serve

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) - Thousands of Reserve and National Guard members
found themselves called suddenly into active duty and deployed when the war
on terror started 10 years ago. Among them were United Methodist pastors
called out of their pulpits in local churches to go with the troops as
chaplains. That turned out to be a blessing, said the Rev. Tom Carter, a
   retired Army chaplain.

College group plays key role in 9/11 event

BATON ROUGE, La. (UMNS) - Louisiana State University's Wesley Foundation
played a key role in a campus "Remembrance Walk and Candlelight Vigil" early
Sunday evening Sept. 11. A group of nearly 100 students gathered in Baton
Rouge at LSU's Free Speech Alley to hear remarks from representatives of
student government, the campus Muslim student group and the Wesley
Foundation among others. Participants walked a path lined with luminarias to
the campus Greek Amphitheatre. Six prayer stations set up by The Wesley
Foundation offered opportunities for students to pause and reflect along the
   path.

Correction: Ethnic caucuses story published 9-13

The headline of a story published Sept. 13 overstated the position of the
ethnic caucuses regarding the church restructuring plan to be considered by
the 2012 General Conference. The ethnic caucuses do not oppose the idea of
restructuring but do have concerns about the plan and process for
   consolidating nine general agencies.
