    Moderator Urges Fulfillment
    of Bicentennial Fund Pledges

    by Jerry L. Van Marter

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-In one of her final communications as moderator of the
General Assembly, Patricia G. Brown has sent an open letter to
Presbyterians urging them to pay up their Bicentennial Fund pledges.

The full text of Brown's letter:

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As my time as moderator of the 209th General Assembly draws to a close, I
cannot help but wonder if my work will be remembered.

The same is true of The Bicentennial Fund. So much time has passed since
that campaign began and so many things have happened in between that it is
easy for yesterday's promises to slip from our memories. Yet commitments
have been made and it is important that all of us follow through on what we
have promised our church and our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Please use this as a friendly reminder as you continue your journey in His
Service.

Patricia G. Brown, Moderator
209th General Assembly (1997)
