Outlook Business Manager Honored for 30 Years of Service
by Eva Stimson
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Close to 600 friends and supporters of the Presbyterian
Outlook gathered Saturday evening, June 13, for the Outlook dinner, which
has become a traditional kickoff event for Presbyterian General Assemblies.
The highlight of the dinner followed 5-minute speeches by each of the
candidates for moderator of the General Assembly. Outlook editor Robert H.
Bullock Jr. introduced the magazine`s business manager, Patricia Gresham,
who "may be the best-known person on the Outlook staff." Gresham was
honored with a monetary gift and a certificate of special recognition for
her more than 30 years of service to the Presbyterian Outlook Foundation
and Outlook Book Service.
Gresham began working for the Outlook as a part-time summer employee
when she was in high school. Bullock described with appreciation her
untiring efforts to ensure that customers receive good service. "She will
stop at nothing to satisfy the needs of those we seek to serve," Bullock
said.
In an emotional response, Gresham thanked Outlook staff and board
members, as well as family members, some of whom were present at the
dinner. "My heart is filled with joy," she said. "It is an honor to work
with great people doing what you feel the Lord has called you to do."
Bullock also introduced a number of former moderators attending the
dinner. He noted that this is the 180th year of service by the
Presbyterian Outlook to the Presbyterian Church, and the 50th year of the
Outlook Book Service. Coincidentally, he added, Charlotte, N.C., was the
site of the Outlook's first General Assembly event, at an Assembly of the
former PCUS in 1975.
