    Comprehensive Funding Strategy in Report
    by Jane Hines

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--John Bush, North Alabama pastor, and other members of the
Comprehensive Strategy for Mission Funding Work Group presented their
report to the Assembly Committee on Stewardship and Funding. The committee
approved their recommendations for funding mission as new realities
among church members and current trends are considered.
Presbytery committees and theological institutions will be encouraged
to address the theology of stewardship, fiduciary responsibilities and
personal financial management as integral aspects of preparation for
ministry. Presbyteries, in consultations with synods, will develop plans
for enhancing pastoral stewardship skills.
It is also recommended that the 210th General Assembly encourage
presbyteries to challenge congregations to give a minimum of ten percent of
their regular contributions to Basic Mission Support for the work of the
presbytery, synod, and the General Assembly. More mission interpretation
resources are called for to support budgeted functions and programs.
