GMMP 2010 report to be launched on 29 September

The Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) report will be launched on
29 September 2010.

The GMMP is the worldâ??s largest and longest running research and
advocacy initiative on gender in the world news media. The research
­ or media monitoring with a gender lens ­ has taken place every

five years since 1995. Research for the 4th GMMP was carried out on 10
November 2009 by volunteer organisations, groups and individuals in

were among six leaders conferred Doctor of Divinity (Honoris Causa) by

WACC Statement on International Day of the Worldâ??s Indigenous
People, 9, August 2010

Half way through the second International Decade of the Worldâ??s
Indigenous Peoples, launched in 2004 by United Nationsâ?? General
Assembly, there have been significant gains among the Indigenous
peoples of the world. In regions such as Latin America, indigenous
peoples are creating national and regional alliances and in some
countries, such as Bolivia, they have an increased presence in the

New wine in old bottles

The 7th International Conference on Media, Religion, and Culture took
place at Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada, 9-13 August 2010. This
series of events was initiated in Uppsala, Sweden, in 1994, followed
by an international public meeting in 1996 in Boulder, Colorado, USA.
Past conferences have brought to the fore research into both very old
and very new mediums of communication, with traditions ranging from
ancient indigenous practice to the most recent cyber-ritual, from
