PCT held a Conference on National Affairs on August 28~29,
2010, at Grace Taiwan

Presbyterian Church in Houston, USA. Guests and speakers at
this conference agreed

unanimously that an awakening of Taiwanese national
consciousness, counteractive

measures by social and political entities, and non-violent
defense movements were crucial in

      turning the tide for Taiwan.

This conference outlined Taiwanese people’s role and mission in
light of Taiwan’s clear and

present dangers and invited experts to share their opinions
from political, social, church, and

missional standpoints. It used open-space technology (OST) and
attempted to draw a

blueprint for future action and cooperation. Such a detailed
analysis helped attendees find

      inspiration and an action plan.

Many Christians and pastors at this conference were also eager
to hear the latest update on

PCT ministries and missions, especially PCT rebuilding efforts
and challenges following

Typhoon Morakot and how they had helped different churches in
Taiwan come together in

      cooperation and unity.

PCT leaders commented that the next 2 years will be crucial in
determining Taiwan’s future

course and fate and that is the reason why this conference
attended by Taiwanese church

leaders, social organization leaders, and human rights groups
was deemed urgent and

      necessary.

A similar conference has been scheduled in Taiwan for October
2010 and it will feature

renowned speakers as well as presentations on the outcomes and
responses of this

      conference.
