âOur assumption is that God continues to call people of all ages,
so if
there is a particular group not responding to that call, then itâs
probably
not (because of) God. There are other reasons why younger persons
might not
be responding.ââ The Rev. Lovett H. Weems Jr., on the churchâs
shortage of
                               young clergy.

Study shows young clergy increasing

WASHINGTON (UMNS) â A study released this week testifies to the
ongoing need
for more young adults becoming clergy in The United Methodist

New Day
camp, reaches out to prisonersâ children.

Poll: Americans OK with student religious speech

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) â A majority of Americans think students
should be
permitted to express their religious views in public schools,
according to a
poll by the Freedom Forumâs First Amendment Center.
The telephone survey of 1,003 adults found that 75 percent of
Americans
support students' religious speech, reports the Religion News
Service.
Fifty-two percent of Americans who do not practice religion also
support
   such expression.
In addition, the survey found 80 percent of Americans think
students should
be allowed to offer prayers at public-school events. The full
survey results
   are available [17]here.
