PCT and Red Cross are finally set to begin the second phase of constructions in
Changchih Lily Park for Morakot victims in Pingtung area. An opening ceremony
was held in the afternoon of April 17, 2011, attended leaders from Rukai
Presbytery, Methodist Church, Catholic Church, and Adventist Church. The four
denomination recently founded the “Rukai Christian Alliance” to deepen their
ties and commitment to this project.

This building project will include 106 houses, a school, an activity center,
and 10 church buildings. If all goes as planned, this new park could become
known as the reserve with the world’s highest density of churches.

The park will serve as a new home to many Aborigine tribes who live near
Pingtung and who lost their homes during Typhoon Morakot in August 2009.

According to reports, PCT and four other Christian denominations will
collaborate to build 30 houses and 3 church buildings while Red Cross will
build 76 houses. The 7 remaining church buildings will be built by Methodist,
Catholic, and Adventist churches together.

PCT Associate General Secretary and CEO of PCT Morakot Rebuilding Centers Rev.
Lyim Hong-tiong delivered the sermon on that opening ceremony. He said once the
project was completed, he hoped to hear people praising God, children playing
happily, and residents working together to build a better future.

When reviewing the planning stages of this project, Lyim stressed that Rukai
Christian Alliance played a major role in providing feedback. Addressing the
source of funding, Lyim said World Vision, PCT, Red Cross, and Presbyterian
Church of Canada had been able to collect the necessary funds needed to build
this community and he thanked all donors in Taiwan and abroad for their
generosity.
