   missionary.

Bahamas mission fights poverty in paradise

ELEUTHERA, Bahamas (UMNS) — For the past five years, life has been a day at
the beach for Andrew McIntyre. But McIntyre’s days rarely include suntan
lotion and sand. He is the executive director of Bahamas Methodist Habitat,
an outreach ministry that mobilizes pilot volunteers in response to

Japan: Signs of progress, despite damage

ISHINOMAKI, Japan (UMNS) — A month after the earthquake and tsunami that

Webcast participants will also learn about the special program’s work to
equip United Methodists to respond to substance abuse in their communities

Clergy letter supports Jubilee debt relief

WASHINGTON (UMNS) — The United Methodist Board of Church and Society is
encouraging clergy to sign a [18]letter to President Barack Obama
celebrating the legacy of the interfaith Jubilee debt-relief movement and
urging his administration to embrace needed reforms for the global economy.
More than $100 billion already has been delivered in debt relief to 35 poor
nations because of the efforts of the Jubilee movement, says the board’s
   Mark Harrison.
