A lifelong love

For 32 years, Charles H. Lockyear did it "by the numbers," as the Associate Treasurer, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer for the last years of the Evangelical and Reformed Church and the first decades of the United Church of Christ.
But this week, among his church friends from the past half century, he's celebrating a different set of numbers.
First is his age. "I'm 91," he beams. "And Catherine will be 90 in December." ?They have been married 68 years. He's the only surviving officer of the five final officers of the E&R Church. And he's the only survivor of the first three officers of the UCC. The others were the Rev. Ben Herbster, President, and the Rev. Fred Buschmeyer, Secretary.
"I've really been blessed," he says, "to do work that I love for this church that I love."
