WCC CONDOLENCES TO THE CHRISTIAN COUNCIL OF NORWAY

For immediate release: 29 July 2011

In a letter sent Friday to the Christian Council of Norway, WCC general
secretary, Rev. Dr Olav Fkyse Tveit and the Moderator of the WCC Central
Committee, Rev. Dr Walter Altmann expressed their “deep shock and
sadness” concerning the attacks of last week.  “We wish to express our
deepest solidarity with the people, churches and authorities of Norway,”
they said.

The letter, which was sent to Rev Ørnulf Steen, General Secretary, and
Prof. Dr Sister Else-Britt Nielsen, Moderator, said  "we ensure you of our
total support for continuing to deepen and promote the Christian and moral
values that are indispensably part of the common values systems of the
Norwegian churches and society and of the ecumenical movement."
