3135 Edition March 26-April 1, 2012 Church Ministry News More than 200 Christian artists to take part in “Love In April” Evangelistic Concert in Taipei Reported by Sam Lee Written by Lydia Ma “Love In April” is a large evangelistic concert featuring more than 200 Christian artists that is scheduled to take place in Taipei Arena on April 15, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Commenting on this upcoming event, PCT General Secretary Andrew Chang has urged PCT local churches to make use of it to further PCT’s “One-leads-One, New Doubling Movement” by inviting friends and family to attend this event either at the venue or via live webcast so that more people may hear the gospel message. “Love in April” is sponsored by Arise and Shine Artists Association, which has invited Chang to be a member of the event’s preparation committee. The concert will feature many artists, talk show hosts, anchormen and anchorwomen who are also professing Christians. Chang said that because so many Christian artists are gathering there on that night, the event will attract the attention of mainstream media and their coverage will be a good opportunity to sow gospel seeds. Speaking as the General Secretary of the PCT, Chang also said that the PCT’s participation in inter-denominational events such as this one is good for the PCT and other church denominations. He explained that PCT pastors and laypersons can use this opportunity to get acquainted with people from other denominations in the preparation process leading up to the concert and these interactions will further people’s understanding of PCT as a church with multiple ministry dimensions. Arise and Shine Artists Association Director Huang Guo-lun said that he was delighted at the PCT’s participation in the planning of this event as the PCT plays an important role in the history and development of Christianity in Taiwan. Not only is the PCT considered the “elder brother” among churches in Taiwan and the “first fruits” of evangelism by foreign missionaries, it also has more than 1,200 local churches in Taiwan with more than 230,000 members. As an influential church in Taiwan, PCT’s support and presence is a blessing. As for the program of this evangelistic concert, Huang said that more than 200 Christian artists ranging from singers and actors to movie directors and talk show hosts would appear on stage. The concert would culminate with a 30 minute opera that would not disappoint the audience. Huang also said during an interview that Chang had asked him to compose a theme song for PCT’s “One-leads-One, New Doubling Movement” and he had recently finished writing the song. He hoped that the “Love in April” concert would be a good opportunity for PCT churches to further the goals of the movement. ******************** Taiwan Church News is published weekly in Taiwan's local languages.
